Shopify Will Freeze Your Funds!
I own a business that has been using Shopify for approximately 9 months. In that time, we've sold a lot of products and had basically no issues. The system itself works fine and has a lot of good features. However, their business practices leave a lot to be desired. A few days ago they arbitrarily decided to evaluate our account. There was no warning for this. No heads up of any kind. During this time they allow us to keep selling, but they freeze all of our funds and will not payout for the sales we have made. Since we are an ecommerce business this means we cannot access any of the funds we need to operate that we have generated through sales. Multiple attempts to contact customer support have generated 'cut and paste' responses and we have been told that a standard review of our account could take 1-2 weeks. So, during this time, Shopify can refuse to payout for the sales we have made without giving any notice. This means we have no way to fund things like payroll, overhead, etc, and we are basically left at their mercy until one of their account managers gets around to reviewing our account and deciding if we can continue to operate on their platform. I don't understand why they couldn't review our account without freezing our funds. Yet, I have seen where quite a few merchants have experienced this exact same thing. Merchants beware!
