Our host turned out to be a large third party provider (BelVilla) who wanted to charge us extra fees in cash (!) at the time of check-in. These fees had not been disclosed at the time of booking and thus were clearly violating the Airbnb rules. Nevertheless, Airbnb did not help us, but rather drowned us with useless, generic responses. We cancelled the reservation and did not receive a refund. Airbnb did not make any effort to challenge the host for charging additional fees nor to compensate us for our loss. Airbnb used to be a great concept but it seems they have lost their spirit and abandoned their customers.

As the owner of a holiday cottage in the UK, I have used VRBO for years. This year however will be our last as they have lost me thousands of pounds in bookings. Early in the year I received a booking from a lady who subsequently changed her mind three times about which week she wanted. This resulted in three cancellations being recorded by VRBO which they penalised us for by removing my Premier Host status and dropping me down the rankings. I now have vacant weeks throughout peak season! I have phoned and eventually managed to speak to someone who reviewed the bookings, agreed the cancellations were not of our making and promised to rectify my listing. This has not happened and I am disgusted by the way I have been treated by VRBO, having used them for years and received excellent reviews on my cottage. DO NOT USE VRBO!

For homeowners with larger, upscale housing that accommodates a family, this website isn't for you. This service is mainly for single travel professionals who need a short term unit and who don't want to pay high prices. So if you have a studio or one bedroom (maybe two), and your unit is affordable, likely you could find renters in metro areas on this website. For all others, I would ask for a trial. I wish I knew that before paying the fee. And I feel the system should warn home owners with larger/more pricier homes that most prospective renters wouldn't want their property.

Went here for 3 days from 30-06-2023 to 03-07-2023 first of all it was a 8 berth Caravan but had the smallest fridge freezer could hardly fit a 4 pint of milk in. The oven didn’t work good job I brought my ninja no toilet rolls no net curtains every other caravan had them and we were right at the top of a really steep climb away from amenities good job I didn’t bring my wheelchair bound daughter really disappointed with our stay would not go again or use parkdean resorts
